June 27

This week has been pretty crazy! Last Monday all we did is clean the house and then visited members and investigators and I said goodbye to them all! On Tuesday Fam Marmolejos gave me a ride to the mission home and we drove through the air force base! At the mission home, I met my new companion, Elder Chandler! He is super cool, from Panama and yep he doesn’t speak English, but it’s awesome and I have learned a TON so far this week. When we were at the mission home we had to wait for the assistants to come with the truck to move us. When they arrived to help us get, they were in a little Toyota truck. We proceeded to stack our beds and stuff for our house into the truck. We loaded, 4 suitcases, 2 bedframes, 2 mattresses, 2 dressers and 3 tables on that little truck, and to top it all off, me and this little Dominican tied it all down with 1 rope.... let’s just say it is definitely the Dominican way to move haha, but it was good. We are actually now in a house with 4 missionaries and it’s really fun! One is Elder Walker from Rexburg and the other is an Elder from Brazil! So things are going well here! Sorry to all those I haven’t written back yet!! I don’t have a ton of time to write, but I love you all and I’ll send a bunch of pictures next week!

Finally, yes mom, I eat eggs now. ONE OF THE MANY BLESSINGS OF THE MISSION. I can eat them plain without anything and I have no clue how haha!

LOVE,

ELDER DURRANT

June 20

It’s been another great week here in the DR! The people here are amazing but pretty crazy too! Lately things in our area have been really slow but they are starting to pick up! But I got news Saturday night that I will be transferred to a new area west of where I am know I will have a Comp from Panama! I don’t know for sure, but I’m pretty sure he doesn´t speak a lick of English but I am so excited for the challenge!  Apparently we will be opening up a new area!!

I hope you are all doing well back home! On Wednesdays we have an English class that we teach at the church, and we usually invite all we can to come! Well this week we had like 12 youth show up but no adult males, sooo that was a problem, so we had to out in the street to find someone, and when we were talking to this guy, trying to convince him to come in, some other investigators showed up!! haha and so we just said never mind to the other guy and left haha. So we split them up and I taught the ones that knew more, and Elder Koerper taught the basics! it was tons of fun and I learned so much from them! Then Thursday, I got a PACKAGE with all sorts of treats and ya I was pumped and so was my comp! He ate like half a thing of Oreos and got sick haha.

I love you all and I am extremely grateful for trials and tests in this life! I know that they all happen for a reason! Alma 36- 3   ¨whosoever shall put their trust in God, shall be supported in their trials...¨

Oh and all of you that are wondering about how much weight I have lost!! Well right now I am 250 and before I was 280. 30 BOOOYA!!

Ps.  Only in the DR do you see cows roaming on highways and buses dodging them haha!

Elder Durrant has learned to eat eggs! He's hated them for 18 years!

MANGOOOOOS

This week has been dang good!! Its mango season here in the DR!  So they are everywhere!!! And this one house had like 3 big huge trees with TONS of them so I told Elder Koerper we had to contact them and do some ¨Service¨ for them haha... So we contacted them and they are an AMAZING family and are totally prepared to receive the gospel!!
MMMMM MANGOS!

Also this week we had another trip to the temple planned, and yet again, Satan did his work and we couldn’t go! But that’s ok!
Also last Monday we made some No-bake cookies and WOW my fat-boy instincts kicked in!!! But I held back and we had an awesome lesson with a partial member family!!!  I had my shirts fixed this week cuz I’ve lost quite a bit of weight!
Elder Durrant is getting skinny!

ZEKA!

Well this week was different... haha. It all started last Monday! After we had gone to the store to get groceries for the week, I started getting super itchy! After a while the red spots started showing up! I had Zeka and as you know, it comes from mosquitos! And I was red EVERYWHERE and it ITCHED SOOOO bad. WOW it all hit at once! So Monday-Wednesday all I did is take cold showers (they are all cold) and sleep in front of the fan! It was baddd but I am all good now!! We went to the doctor on Tuesday and they said everyone gets it and they gave me a cream and told me to sleep and drink Juice. Haha, that’s the remedy for everything here in the DR! Anyways, that was not so fun!
We had about 6 people that were going to get baptized and they all just fell through... But we are continuing to work hard and have patience! Thursday we had a lesson on the Air Force Base here in San Isidro! It was great and then Saturday we had a big nice trip to the temple planned with investigators and some recent converts and that fell cuz the Gua gua (van) got a flat tire!! Freakin Satan is just working hard right now but it’s all good!

On Pdays other than clean the house and do laundry and go buy groceries we don’t do too much! Hopefully, we can get out and see more things next pday.

I am learning so much every single day and I absolutely love it! The mission is perfect and I can’t believe it’s already been 2 months since I was in good old Cache Valley! Miss you all! Sorry I didn’t really take any pictures this week other than my Zeka picture. J
